Ichida visits Bangladesh ambassador to offer sympathy for cyclone damages

November 20, 2007
Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi on November 19 visited the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo and conveyed to Ambassador Ashraf-ud-Doula his sympathy for the victims of the cyclone that recently hit the country.

“We hope for an early relief for victims and reconstruction of their lives,” said Ichida.

Thanking Ichida, the ambassador explained that the cyclone was the strongest level ever recorded with winds at 250 km/h and waves as high as six-meters, and that the death toll could reach 10,000 according to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. He said that the Bangladeshi people are facing major difficulties after experiencing two flood disasters in September and October.

JCP International Bureau Acting Director Nishiguchi Hikaru and Bangladesh Minister Majibur Rahman Bhuiyan were present at the meeting.
