|
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on March 12 visited the South Korean Embassy in Tokyo to hold talks with Ambassador Shin Kak Soo.
Shii talked to the ambassador about his visit to South Korea to attend the inauguration of South Korean President Park Geun Hye in February.
Shii handed over to the ambassador the Korean translation of Shii’s interpellation in the House of Representatives concerning the issue of Japan’s wartime sex slavery and Prime Minister Abe’s response to this as well as Shii’s report to the JCP 6th Central Committee plenum on issues related to foreign affairs.
Explaining these texts, the JCP chair expressed his determination to work hard for solution to the pending problems between the two nations.
Pointing out that former comfort women are advancing in age, the ambassador emphasized the need to settle the wartime sex slavery issue without delay. He also expressed his hope for Japanese politicians’ actions to achieve this.
The two exchanged views about the importance for the two governments to share an historical recognition regarding Japan’s past war of aggression and colonial rule over Korea.
