“Prime Minister Abe's act that amounts to abandoning the government reveals the fact that the LDP policy as a whole is on the verge of collapse. In other words, the failure of the LDP-Komei Party policy line underlies this event,” said the JCP chair.
On Prime Minister Abe Shinzo’ announcement of his intention to resign, Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo at a press conference on September 12 made the following comment:
The unprecedented event in which the prime minister announced his resignation immediately after delivering his policy speech shows how irresponsible he is. His act amounts to abandoning the government, in an extremely irresponsible manner for a prime minister.
This event reveals not only Mr. Abe’s personality but the fact that the Liberal Democratic Party’s policy as a whole is on the verge of collapse. In other words, the failure of the LDP-Komei Party policy line underlies this event.
The failure of their “structural reform” policy line based on the law of the jungle that has increased poverty and social disparities, the failure of imposing constitutional revision on the public under the slogan of “breaking away from the postwar regime,” and the failure of their policy of continuing to assist the U.S. in its war of retaliation in subordination to the U.S. are failures of the LDP-Komei Party policy line that have resulted in this situation.
Prime Minister Abe said he hopes that a new cabinet will overcome the present difficulties. However, the fact that their policy line has failed calls for a drastic change, a new framework in the policy line. The task now is to change course with a drastic change in the “structural reform” policy, halting the policy of seeking constitutional revision, and ending the subservience to the U.S.
The JCP will make every effort in order to successfully produce such policy changes in response to popular demand.
