Majority of petition signatures sent to Diet via JCP

In the ordinary session of the Diet which ended on June 26, the Japanese Communist Party helped submit the largest number of signatures in petitions brought by citizens among political parties.

During the five-month Diet session, 13,897,317 signatures or 57.9% of the total, were submitted to the Diet through JCP parliamentarians, followed by 5,012,369 (20.8%) through the Liberal Democratic Party, and 2,683,778 (11.1%) through the Democratic Party of Japan.

The JCP received and helped bring to the Diet 98.6% of the signatures calling for a departure from nuclear power generation, 99.4% of the signatures calling for a halt to the consumption tax increase, and 99.4% of the signatures in opposition to the adverse revision of the Constitution.
