Tokyo Gov. Masuzoe: Article 9 should be revised
|
Newly-elected Tokyo Governor Masuzoe Yoichi said at his first press conference on February 14 that the war-renouncing Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution “should be revised”.
Masuzoe won the February 9 gubernatorial race, backed by the ruling coalition of the Liberal Democratic and Komei parties.
The governor also referred to the Abe government move to authorize the state to exercise the right to collective self-defense. He said that he endorses the central government stance to approve the use of the collective self-defense right by changing the conventional interpretation of the Constitution.
