|
Pushed by the Japanese Communist Party’s efforts, Tokyo Governor Masuzoe Yoichi on March 4 said that he will set up a taskforce to make use of unutilized public land to build more child- and nursing-care facilities in response to the public demand.
JCP members of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly have long urged that unused property owned by the national and metropolitan governments be utilized to increase facilities for children and the elderly.
At the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly plenary meeting, Governor Masuzoe stated that the task group will also consider the use of private land. The authority seeks to start building facilities based on the findings by the end of March 2015, the governor added.
JCP Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly member Ueki Koji at the plenary session used his question time to urge the metropolitan government to make a list of available land owned by the Tokyo government and Tokyo’s extra governmental organizations.
