Japanese-made weapons to be displayed at international expo
|
Following the government withdrawal of the arms embargo policy, 14 military-related Japanese companies will showcase their products at an international defense exhibition scheduled for June 16 in Paris, France.
This came to light on May 29 when Defense Minister Onodera Itsunori replied to a question made by Japanese Communist Party lawmaker Inoue Satoshi at a House of Councilors Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee meeting.
Inoue pointed out that those companies’ move will lead to the promotion of arms exports and is unacceptable.
The world’s largest biennial defense and security exhibition, called Eurosatory, takes place under the auspices of the French Land and Defense Security Industry Association in partnership with the French Ministry of Defense. Major European and U.S. military manufacturers display land and air armaments. The event is renown for providing business opportunities to military industries and is strictly off limits to the public.
