Ogata talks with CPC International Department official
Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on November 18 met with Zhao Shitong, Deputy Director-General of the No.2 Bureau of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, at the JCP head office in Tokyo.
Ogata talked about the political situation in Japan with a general election close at hand and the significance of the fact that in November’s Okinawa gubernatorial election the candidate opposing the planned U.S. base construction beat his rival backed by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in a landslide victory.
Referring to the recent Japan-China summit meeting, Zhao said that he will work to improve bilateral relations.
In response, Ogata highlighted the need to increase efforts to resolve the historical issues as well as the territorial issue involving the Senkaku Islands in the South China Sea.
Ogata attends Oman’s National Day Reception
JCP Vice Chair Ogata on November 19 attended Oman’s 44th National Day Reception held in Tokyo.
He had a friendly conversation with Khalid al-Muslahi, the Omani Ambassador to Japan.
