Anti-people budget passes Lower House
|
The government draft budget for fiscal 2015 passed through the House of Representatives by a majority vote on March 13, and was sent on to the House of Councilors. The Japanese Communist Party voted against the bill, claiming that it will take a heavy toll on people’s livelihoods.
Ahead of the passing of the measure at a plenary session, the JCP submitted to the House Budget Committee a motion seeking a recompilation of the draft budget.
At the committee meeting, JCP lawmaker Motomura Nobuko explained the reason for the motion. She demanded that the Abe administration stop cutting social security services, reducing taxes for large corporations, and increasing military expenditures.
Motomura also called on the government to drastically increase the budget to support local small businesses, address the problem of child poverty, and help disaster victims to rebuild their lives.
JCP Chair Shii Kazuo told reporters after the plenary session that the JCP will continue to speak out about the many problems of the budget bill in Upper House deliberations.
