Elderly people are burning with anger at the Hatoyama administration’s decision to postpone abolishing the discriminatory health insurance system for the elderly aged 75 and over, breaking the Democratic Party of Japan’s election promise.
The Democratic Party of Japan-led government intends to carry on the former government policy to reduce the number of beds available at long-term facilities providing medical treatment for the elderly.
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo held talks with Prime Minister Hatoyama Yukio in the Diet on February 17 and submitted a JCP proposal for a recompilation of the FY2010 national draft budget to fundamentally redress the past undemocratic administration and to change the political course.
