The Japanese Communist Party Central Committee on March 11 set up its special taskforce to deal with the Great East Japan Disaster and decided to do everything possible to cooperate in rescue and relief activities for quake and tsunami victims.
In a ruling-opposition summit meeting held on March 12 at the prime minister’s official residence following the Great East Japan Disaster, Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo requested that the prime minister give top priority to rescue operations before everything and that the government must do all it can for that.
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo suggested that the government give a mandate to the Nuclear Safety Commission, which is independent from atomic-power promoters, to handle the ongoing nuclear crisis.
