Local Japanese Communist Party prefectural committees in the wake of the Great East Japan Disaster on March 14 urged respective prefectural governments to increase their efforts to provide support for disaster-stricken areas and to relieve the disaster sufferers.
The JCP Aomori Prefectural Committee and its prefectural assembly members in a meeting with Vice-governor Ebina Takeshi requested that the prefectural government implement an assistance system for the victims, provide information to residents in regard to the supply of gasoline, food, and other daily necessities, and make housing arrangements for those who lost their homes.
Ebina said that the prefectural government is now doing its best and plans to work to solve the housing problem by using public housing units and renting private housing units.
JCP Akita Prefectural Committee and its prefectural assembly members group on the same day also urged Governor Sataka Norihisa to give food, housing, and clothing assistance to the disaster victims in the prefecture.
