Evacuees of the Fukushima nuclear accident cast skeptical eyes on Prime Minister Noda Yoshihiko’s declaration that the accident has finally been brought under control.
Prime Minister Noda Yoshihiko took the same position as successive Liberal Democratic Party governments claiming that the issue of compensation for wartime sex slavery was settled, when South Korean President Lee Myung Bak described the issue as an “obstacle to bilateral relations” and urged to show “sincere courage to resolve” this issue.
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on December 19 in his comment on the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il hoped that the succeeding leadership of North Korea will seriously pursue peace based on the 2002 Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration and the principles agreed upon in the 2005 Six-Party Talks.
