Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Koike Akira on December 5 defined the Nippon Ishin no Kai as a political party that basically works for the Liberal Democratic Party, saying that “its supportive role has become clear” in the LDP’s ongoing attempt to railroad a casino bill through the Diet.
He made this statement at a press conference regarding the day’s forcible vote at a Lower House committee on the bill lifting the ban on casino gambling in Japan.
Koike said, “Nippon Ishin no Kai also participated in steamroller votes on TPP-related bills as well as a pension-cut bill at each committee. For the purpose of luring casinos and an expo to their home-base in Osaka, this party has been at the LDP’s beck and call. On the issue of constitutional amendments as well, it has been maneuvering together with the ruling parties.”
He added, “The JCP will straightforwardly face up to this misruling coalition composed of the LDP, the Komei Party, and the Nippon Ishin no Kai.”
