Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo, who is visiting Paris to attend a peace conference, on May 6 held talks with the vice president of a progressive think tank, the Gabriel Peri Foundation, Guillaume Roubaud-Quashie.
Ogata received an explanation by the vice president about the Gabriel Peri Foundation. They discussed ways to promote cooperation between the JCP and the foundation. Among people present at the talks, the foundation’s scientific council head Dr. Serge Wolikow was present.
Later on the same day, Ogata met with France Unbowed (La France Insoumise or LFI) party Lower House members Aurelien Saintoul and Ersilia Soudais in the National Assembly building. Recalling the two LFI lawmakers’ visits to Japan, Ogata said that as shown by this fact, the JCP-LFI relations have progressed since the first meeting between the two parties which Ogata held during his visit to Paris in 2022 as the head of the JCP delegation. Ogata and the French leftist lawmakers exchanged views on their countries’ domestic situations and international issues.
The Gabriel Peri Foundation was established in 2004. Its activities include the study focusing on the history and current situation of the French and international labor movement, capitalism and neo-liberalism, socialism theory, and international issues and relations. In addition, the foundation seeks to publish a complete translation of the works of Marx and Engels.
