Ogata meets with Cuban counsellor
Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo who also chairs the party’s International Commission met with Cuban Embassy Counsellor Elizabeth Valdes-Miranda Fernandez at the JCP head office in Tokyo on April 25.
Ogata expressed his gratitude for the Cuban cooperation JCP Chair Shii asked for in a meeting with Cuban UN Ambassador Anayansi Rodriguez to work to achieve the success of the UN conference held in March in NYC to negotiate an international treaty banning nuclear weapons. Ogata also thanked the Cuban Embassy in Tokyo for its support.
They exchanged views on the current situation in Northeast Asia and confirmed that both sides will continue to work together on the issue of abolishing nuclear weapons.
Ogata attends farewell reception for Cuban counsellor
Ogata on May 8 attended a farewell reception hosted by the Cuban Embassy in Tokyo for outgoing Cuban Counsellor Elizabeth Valdes-Miranda.
Ogata offered his appreciation for the work she had engaged in during her 4-year tenure in Japan, and exchanged greetings with Cuban Ambassador to Japan Carlos Miguel Pereira and other foreign diplomats.
