Shii protests against Chinese ships' intrusions into Japan's waters

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on November 5 at a press conference strongly protested against repeated intrusions of Chinese government-owned vessels into Japanese territorial waters.

Asked about recent intrusions in the waters surrounding Okinawa's Senkaku Islands, Shii said that the JCP in its 28th Congress held in January this year criticized Chinese government ships' intrusion into Japan's territorial waters and their entry into the contiguous zone around the Senkakus as "the very hegemonic actions".

The JCP has since made a protest to the Chinese government on this matter. China, however, shows no sign of stopping its hegemonic acts. Shii said, "Once again, I'd like to express my strong protest against it."

Shii added, "China's moves to change the status quo in the East and South China Seas with the use of force are exactly what hegemonism is all about and have nothing to do with socialism," and expressed his determination to continue urging the Chinese leadership in a diplomatic manner to end its unlawful acts.
