|
On January 15, day two of the Japanese Communist Party 28th Congress, Vice Chair Yamashita Yoshiki on behalf of the Central Committee gave a report on the draft for the second resolution on the party-building policy. After that, seven guest speakers, including the Atami City mayor, delivered speeches in solidarity, and delegates to the Congress then held discussions on the three drafts.
Presenting his report on the second resolution draft, Yamashita said that this is the first time for the party to discuss a draft resolution which only deals with the tasks pertaining to party building. Explaining the reason why the party leadership decided to propose the draft resolutions on party-building and on political mission separately, Yamashita emphasized the importance of giving party building priority.
Along with Saito Sakae, the mayor of Atami City, those who spoke as guests were: co-head of the pro-constitutional civil organization All-Out Action Committee Takada Ken; Hosei University Professor and an initiator of the Civil Alliance Yamaguchi Jiro; Metropolitan Coalition Against Nukes (MCAN) activist Misao Redwolf; Japan Family Farmers Movement (Nouminren) President Sasawatari Yoshio; representative of the National Forum for a Peaceful, Democratic and Progressive Japan (Kakushinkon) Makino Tomio; and National Confederation of Trade Unions (Zenroren) President Odagawa Yoshikazu.
Following the speeches by the seven guests, the Congress proceeded to discussions on the draft revision to the Party Program and the two draft resolutions.
